It’s all about insurance for small businesses
Author: Philip Charles-Pierre
The other day, my daughter, who’s six, asked me why I don’t have a boss. I explained to her that I actually have thousands of bosses: the agents and carriers that use our platform.
Because of our loyal insurance agents and carriers, today I am proud to say that we completed a Series B funding round.
I speak for the whole Semsee team when I say: we’re really excited about what comes next. Our funding was led by 01 Advisors, run by former Twitter executives, Dick Costolo and Adam Bain, and our existing investor, D. E. Shaw group, also participated. In addition, Jonathon Crystal, Managing Partner, Crystal Venture Partners, will become an advisor to the company.
What does the investment mean?
For the agents and carriers we work with, it means more — more functionality and more opportunities to leverage our platform to efficiently manage and grow commercial insurance. We were already developing more features to make agents’ quoting and placing commercial business easier. We were also adding tools to help carriers more effectively get the premium they’re looking for.
Not only can we accelerate those things, but we’re also adding even wider variety of markets and carriers to the platform. The investment in Semsee enables us to apply more resources and hire more people. It’s also an endorsement of the value of our mission to simplify and speed up the process of connecting agents with quality insurance using data and technology.
So what comes next: many cool things to grow commercial insurance. Stay tuned for exciting announcements about new features on our platform really soon.
